Welcome to St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.

As Chair of Governors, I am delighted to welcome you to our school. Whether you are already part of our community or are considering St Bernadette’s for your child, I hope this website gives you a clear picture of the values, opportunities and high standards that make our school such a special place.

The Governing Body is made up of volunteers who are committed to serving the school, its children and the wider community. Our role is not to manage the day-to-day running of the school - that is the responsibility of the Headteacher - but to work alongside the Headteacher and staff in setting the school’s strategic direction, ensuring strong governance and financial stewardship, and supporting the highest standards of education and care. Above all, we are committed to preserving and strengthening the Catholic character of our school.

Our school motto, ‘Reaching Up, Reaching Out’, captures our vision for every child. We want our pupils to grow in faith, fulfil their God-given potential and develop the confidence, compassion and sense of service that will enable them to make a positive contribution to society. As governors, we are committed to ensuring that these values remain at the heart of every decision we make.

Parents and carers are our children’s first educators, and the partnership between home, school and parish is fundamental to the success of St Bernadette’s. We greatly value the trust that families place in us and are committed to ensuring that every child is educated in a safe, nurturing and ambitious environment where they can flourish both academically and personally.
