Hangleton News!

The last two weeks have flown by and across the school there has been a sense of purpose and activity. With the sun shining, it has been great to see KS2 practising for Withdean Athletics trials and Sports day in their PE lessons. Also, the sound of children learning to swim is a welcomed addition. We are so lucky to have this fantastic resource to offer all of the children in our school from Reception to Year Six.

Year 3 Tri Golf Tournament

Ten children from Year 3 enjoyed an afternoon of golf at Blatchington Mill School, along with seven other schools. They took part in eight different activities to introduce them to chipping and putting skills.

Children’s Parade 2025

The annual Children’s Parade is a loud, disruptive and memorable procession that takes place on the first Saturday of May to officially launch Brighton Festival. The largest of its kind in Europe, the free event takes place in central Brighton and has delighted participants and spectators for nearly 30 years. This year our fabulous federation used the theme of the Women’s Rugby World cup for our big make. These creations will hopefully actually be used at the event this year. Once again, Mr Pallot did a fabulous job with his samba band and their music sounded majestic amongst the crowds!

Boys football: Stearman Cup

Well done to our Boys’ football team who battled until the end in the search for an equaliser, but who ended up losing 2-1 to Cottesmore in the semi-final of the Stearman Cup. Every boy should be proud of their performance.

Year Six SATs 2025

Our Year Six children had the difficult task of sitting their formal end of key stage assessments this week. We were incredibly proud of their calm and focussed attitude. The papers have had their challenges, although our fantastic children have taken it in their stride. It would be wrong not to recognise the hard work of all of the staff that have supported to ensure our children have been given the best possible chance at showing off their incredible knowledge. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Mrs McCardie

Do You Have Green Fingers?

We are really lucky to have such a great outside space at Hangleton. As you will have seen there are some really great vegetable patches at the front of the school. We would be really keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in renting, for free, a patch and growing their own food. It would be great to see these being used by the community and providing a project and food for anyone who is interested. Please do get in touch with Emma Lake if you or a
member of the community is interested.
